I was probably thinking of ServerObjects aspmail, which I know has a trial pop3 component - used it before.

Googling for "free asp pop3 component" turned up a lot of hits. A lot say .net, but when you read then, many also work with plain asp.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.

so there isnt any filter/ addin / pop3 client which can filter text before sending an email
