I'm more than happy with the speed of my machine, even my old 1GHz AMD Duron laptop has enough speed for what I want most of the time.

I would like to see processors that eat less of my electricity and run cooler so I can do away with the noisy fans.

Partly down to materials used also.  But yes, unless you play high end games or run some huge research lab you don't need much power really at the end of the day!
