can anyone help me with a cron script?

I have written the following, which lists those who are viewing my forum:

http://agni.gearhost.net/sql/whos_online2.asp

(ignore the poll part)

I want to include the above script on every page of my site - to show who is online. But when the site is very busy, the server cannot cope. My idea, is to write a cron script that will run once every 5 mins or so, and write the HTML for who is currently online to a simple inc page. Then each page can just include that. I know there would be a slight time lag (delay) but I would be happy with that. Any advice?

This is kindof the wrong place to ask about cron scripts. There are better places for that. Most people here work with MS mostly, and probably don't even know what it is.

For stuff like that, I would run the script every so often (5 min sounds ok) but rewrite the *.inc file with the filesystemobject. That way it is always fresh, and you save CPU time.  

Also, some code would help.
