I've been meaning to ask this about my forum and now see it here...
 
In the lower left corner of this page, to the left of the "Post New Topic" button, there is a "timer circle" (for want of a better work) that flashes every 10 seconds or so.
 
I've had other members tell me the same thing.

This is the Ajax session paging which happens every 60 seconds to keep the users session alive on the server.
