Sorry if this has been asked before - I did spend a while searching the KB's, forum and hunting in the interface, but didnt find anything of relavence..

Is it possible to set / display a forum post in reverse date order - i.e. have the newest / latest posts appear at the top, on page 1, with older posts following on page 2 etc..

With version 9 you can only do this by the member clicking the 'Message' heading at the top of the page.

In version 10 you can set this so that all posts are in reverse order by default.

However, as most people are so familiar with the way forums work with posts being the the logical order of reading through the first to the last post that switching it would confuse people.

Aha! Click the message button..  I see.. Missed that.

I agree reading chronologically is the norml, but reverse date order is useful for certain posts - like announcements - for example we post announcements of new software version releases, and it is helpful to have the newest releases first.

You could do as we do and create a new Topic for each new release and set it as an announcement either for that forum or you can set it as announcement across all forums so that the post remains at the top of the list in forums.
