I have had the problem with the trackball on laptops before, usually if I let it go where it wanted then it straightened itself out. But, it is strange that an external mouse is doing it as well, let us know if the boss' suggestion works for you.

windows update just run a scan and check in drivers section.. they are optional so u have to mnaul select them for installation
