too much .. call the fire dept.. mine usually stays

30 idle
35 normal
40 mild load of work
45 heavy load
50 - 55 during video encoding and stufff

I don't know, but on my previous computer with a P4 2.4GHz (Northwood I think) it was between 30 and 45 when I was programming or typing and sh*t.. listening to music.. If I started some sort of program that used 100% cpu power it got to about 50-65..

everything depending on the temperature outside (and then the temperature in my room)

I havn't checked the temp on my new laptop (Don't have any program that show mw that), but if it says something about it in the BIOS, I can check it out.. but I don't think it goes far over 50-60 on 100% load in roomtemperature (~20 C)

I've got an AMD on this box... and man... does it suck. Gets a bit hot and wierdness happens. I will never ever get another AMD chip box again.

p4 2.8 ghz

good memory, a good mainbaird particularly with a good chipset like intel 865 or 875 plays and other periphicals of high quality play a considerable part is keeping system stable and cool...
