    Posted: 18 December 2010 at 4:31am

Apologies if this has been dealt with elsewhere but can anyone tell me if there's any way of an admin getting e-mail notification of a new post in a moderated forum?  We have a forum running that have a large number of topics and occasionally someone will post in an old topic but even if the topic is "watched' there's no e-mail notifcation.

As far as i am aware there is no setting to receive email alerts.

How ever there is a page that displays all threads with posts pending approval.

To reach it, visit any forum page and click "Moderator Tools" (found in the top bar by logout etc) and then "Moderated Topics"

Or doing the same on any topic. (Where the share and rate buttons are on this page)

If an admin or moderator is subscribed to either the forum or the topic they will receive an email notification on all posts in that forum or topic that need approval.

If you find this is not working as it should try upgrading to the latest release.

Hello -

We currenly have version 8.05 of the forum software and need the ability for moderators to be email notififed of posts awaiting approval. As far as I can tell and from everything i've read in the forums, version 8.05 does not support this. Because of this, we are considering upgrading to the newest version, 9.69.

Can you confirm that 9.69 does in fact support sending approval emails to moderators? The message from Bruce above seems to suggest this is so, but I just want to make sure, since this would be our most important reason for upgrading.

Thank you!

Messages are sent to moderators pertaining to approval emails, but the biggest reason why you should consider upgrading is 8.05 is very old now, more prone to attacks and hackers, and although it may seem a complete change in how the forum will look, the fact is the forum will be safer, more secure and easier to upgrade when future updates are made available

I can confirm that version 9.69 does have support for email notifications for admins and moderators for posts that require approval.
