 Is there a way to save old post or archiving them for future refference?

I'm doing a forum for a hostpital and I was asked if the forum get's too big, Is there a way they can archive the old post to a database so it can be refferenced at a future date?

Forums posts are stored in a database anyway, but there isn't a second database to archive posts to as this wouldn't work.
