I have upgraded my forum from 9.65 to newest 9.67, but when I submit any post or reply, I got this message:

A security error has occurred with authentication.

Please ensure that all cookies are enabled on your web browser, you are not using a saved or cached copy of the page, and your Firewall/Proxy settings are not hiding or masking your IP address.

So I have to change back all  files to 9.65.

The new version's "session keep alive" system  may not work on all environments?

Forgot to say: I have successfully logged in, with different username & browser(chrome4, IE7). All post/reply got the error message with 9.67.

And the same procedure works fine with 9.65.

Errors like these can be caused by a corrupt upload. Make sure that you have completed the correct upgrade steps and try re-uploading the files once again

Thanks for your reply!

The problem solved, because my upgrade procedure was wrong. Now it works fine.

But there's a small problem: I can't find version message on my WWF's output.

The WWF's official forum here, I can see version info at bottom of page like:

Bulletin Board Software by Web Wiz Forums® version 10 alpha build 20091210

But on my WWF, I can see only:

Powered by Web Wiz Forums Free Express Edition

Without any version info.

Just to add, we have a few of our members over on NPOC getting errors as well. They are getting access denied errors whenever they try to post (although they can see all sections as normal), they have also reported seeing the new session expired pop up but after they click OK, they are getting logged out of the forums.

We trialled the new version before it officially went live, so it was all dealt with by Bruce (no complaints here).

The reason I haven't mentioned it to Bruce is because so far, only 3 members have reported the problem (3 out of thousands etc). There may be others who haven't mentioned it because they haven't worked out how to get in touch with Forum Admin as yet but as whole, I had put it down to an issue locally (PC side) with the user.

All of these members have got around the problem by dumping IE and switching to Firefox, which whilst I appreciate we all accept IE is pants, we can't surely force people into using alternative browsers.

The ones that have reported this (in case it's relevant), have all stated they are seeing the errors from their work computers (so think corporate firewalls etc) since the latest version was installed but they are not getting the problems from their home computers.

I've talked them through completely clearing out their internet caches / cookies and so on, it made no difference.

Personally and as the forum Admin of a large website, I only get concerned when it's widespread reported probs but it really is a tiny tiny tiny percentage here that have reported probs, which is why I haven't raised it until the OP here mentioned it.

I'll keep an eye for any news in here.

Many thanks and take care,
Shaun

Often with corporate companies they use a proxy server so that they can spy on what employees are up to and/or use a UTM gateway filter to filter out content.

IE is very flaky when it comes to cookie support especially IE 6 and below. If it is working OK with Firefox then I suspect a cookie issue probably caused by the corporate proxy or UTM.

One thing you could ask people to do who have this issue is to turn off cookies for your forums website, this would then eliminate it being a cookie issue.

When you login to Web Wiz Forums is detects if cookies are enabled on your browser, if they are not then it appends the session to the URL. In this way by disabling cookies the user would be switched to using the cookie-less browser session.
