P.S. Shaun - thanks for the help and offer of help - always open to suggestions.............. there's always time to learn.
Gotta make and keep it good.
We've sort of "stolen the throne" from others there and folks are betting on this one living forever and staying up and solid.
It's rather surprising to some of us there that this orphan car, that even when the company was in business, wasn't fully popular with the masses, has such a large following in a forum. I mean, we seem to be pulling folks out of the woodwork and so far have the largest group or membership of any prior forum related to this company.

Hi Bill

This sounds like it has been well documented already but some further input to help:
1. You're running 9.56a version - that's out of date since as you must know 9.64 is in, so you are 4 versions behind
2. Setup your logging to log registrations, edit and deleting of posts (at least)
3. Check all your membership settings - it's very easy as Bruce and Shaun say to have made some technical errors when you have many forums plus forum membership status's

Logging is and has been setup...... for a few months...

Can't upgrade at each little release as it takes some time and effort to keep the custom colors and such in place. The look and feel are important to our folks, as are some of the links at the top (the donation button) and the added breadcrumb at the bottom (was a request from many users) So each change means I update the smilies, the avatar settings, the colors in the CSS files, etc. So I typically try to catch the most urgent........ and avoid having to put back in the links, buttons, and colors, etc.
Can't keep the same CSS file as I note that Bruce has added things now and then so I have documented our colors, and what I changed and after the upgrade, have to edit the new CSS and put our settings in it. Things like that prevent updates for each minor release.

I did find that when I ADDED the "new user group" earlier that the security settings didn't follow the groups like I'd thought! So two groups had the security settings swapped. It didn't follow the group, but followed the position of the group in the group order. Odd.......

The moderators who are mods ONLY for 1 or 2 specific sections -  the interesting bit is that the sections THEY moderate are not the sections seeing any issues! Oddly enough, those specific sections haven't had anything turn into a calendar event! So I know "it's not them" as they have no rights elsewhere.  Like if something was missing in my house, I can't blame the neighbor as their keys only work on the garage, not the house. So I can't blame those 3 fellows - their mod rights don't work in the other sections or "forums".  The things that turn into calendar events are threads that haven't seen activity for a while - no new replies, no edits, etc. And not in their areas of "moderatorship".......

Hey Bill
Obviously with New Year literally around the corner, there is little chance in doing anything very soon, but if you need some help upgrading the forum, then PM me and I'll see if I can assist you over the next week or so

Obviously, with our version at least 3/4 of a year back (Bruce moved us to new server I think in April and at that time, was mostly likely the current version for April) and with security concerns for ANY web site or forum, and with the nifty new features Bruce has added this year, I'd like to upgrade in any case as soon as is possible or practical.
It's just simply time to do it and it would be a good time to review the settings and "practices" being used. (plus the documentation would be fresh in my mind!)
We've grown well beyond our dreams on this thing.......
Thanks - I'll see how things are looking.
