    Posted: 16 September 2009 at 5:11pm
Hi,
My situation is this:

The server has the required software.

If I download and install a new copy of the adware forum, upload the htaccess file the url rewriting works fine.

If I do the same, but upgrade my exisitng free forum to the new adware one, upload the htaccess file etc. then the url rewriting doesnt work.

Is there something in my existing database that needs changing to get this to work?

Thanks

Make sure you have upload all the files from the new release.

If you previously running the Express Edition you will need to login to the admin area and under the upgrade section change the forum to run as the Adware Edition.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply, I've done all of that so that the only file remaining the same is the database - all the forum files are new.

I then run through the setup and select the upgrade option.

I then login under the admin control panel and change to the Adware edition. The version info if checked shows the admin edition.

But the re-write still wont work? This is why I thought there was a setting in the database that wasnt changing or upgrading correctly?

In what way is the URL Rewriting not working?

Do you see a title= then the topic name in the address bar? If so then the forum is working as it should and the problem will be with how you have deployed the .htaccess file.
