I'm trying to update an old version 7.95 forum to 9.60.

I've restored the database to the SQL 2008 server, copied the content of the web_wiz_forums_v9.60.zip/forum to my forum fodler on the IIS server - so far so good.

However, when I try to connect to the forum and do the "Configure Database Connection", I can test the database ok, but when I press "Next >>", I'm returned to the initial "Web Wiz Forums Installation Wizard - Version 9.60" screen.

As far as I can tell the "database_settings.asp" is never updated. Hoever, I believe I've set the correct permissions (-666 or read/write/modify).

What I'm I doing wrong?

You need to ensure that you have write permissions on the 'Database' directory. These need to be set on the server as you can not check or set permissions via FTP on a Windows server so  (-666 or read/write/modify) means nothing. It has to be done on the server itself.
