We have been running the WebWiz forums at http://www.pocketgps.co.uk for just over a year now. We have an access database and are still running the version 6 software.
Due to the size of our database we seem to have hit critical mass and this has resulted in a marked slowdown of the forum over the last couple of months.
Ideally what we would like to do is convert from 6.x access to 7.x SQL. I have searched through this forum and have not been able to find any people who have done this. I have sort of successfully upgraded from 6 access to 7 Access without any improvement in speed. My attempts to convert from access to MSSQL have failed.
The steps I took were:
- Download the AccessDB locally
- Upsize the db to MS SQL server (local)
- Install the 7.1 SQL Forum software on Webserver
- Test empty forum - OK
- Used the SQL scripts from the site to convert v6 sql to v7 sql locally (I used SQL Query Analyser and manually ran the scripts.)
- Used DTS to transfer the database.
- When I transfered the db about 5 tables failed to come over. In particular the tblThreads with 15000 records in it.
If anyone has any experience of this please can you suggest the best way to do this I would be grateful if you could give me a few pointers.
