sorry should have included this earlier, original setup was done on a test server and we have migrated the associated db to the permanent SQL server.  In migrating the boards, they will no longer connect to the db.  Having trouble getting the boards to connect to something besides /localhost/

ps we are using the SQL version of WWF

Since you changed hosts you are going to have to change the connection string.

The forum comes with a file called SQL_server_connection.asp on the admin folder where all you have to do is enter your SQL server name, username, password, and database name and the connection string is already built for you... all you have to change on the common.asp is the database type from Access to MSSQL and ignore the access connection string as it's not used on the sql version.

I think you are modifying the wrong part of the file. There is a section for configuring a local database that is commented out, and you want to ignore that. You need to just change the section for SQL. You will have to read closely to figure out which is which.

I just set-up the forum todayand my database is on one server and the forums are on another. I had no problem, but I did have to specify the correct settings and it worked fine.
