    Posted: 04 October 2003 at 7:07pm

I have tried installing SQL Server version 7.5. I currently run 7.01 Access version. I upsized the current Access tables, then ran the SQL setup script. Everything seemed to install fine on SQL Server, except I had 2 of every table, so I deleted all the empty duplicate tables.

The objects created by WWF have an owner of dbo. My upsized tables have the owner as my username. When I try to run any forum pages I get the following error:

EXECUTE permission denied on object 'wwfSpSelectConfiguration', database 'myDBname', owner 'dbo'.
/forums/common.asp, line 264

I have no previous SQL Server experience. Do I need to change the owner of all the objects listed as dbo?  If I do, I can't seem to find an option to do that with the Enterprise Manager.

Thanks for any assistance.

You need to run the script on the SQL server FIRST, then use the upsize wizard to migrate the information.

Also you may find that extra admin and guest accounts and groups are cerated that you will need to delete from the admin area.

Thanks for the reply, God_Struth. However, I don't know if that is correct advise or not, as I followed the directions in borg's post to get where I am.  I may try it anyway if no one has any other suggestions, just in case.

Well, I tried setting up SQL Server first, then upsizing, but I end up at exactly the same place I did before, and the same error. The upsize wizard doesn't insert data into existing tables of the same names, it creates a duplicate table with the same name.

OK, after some more trial and error, I seemed to have fixed the problem. I deleted all the SQL Server objects, then upsized my Access forum again. Then I changed the reference of [dbo] in the setup page to my own username. Everthing appears to be working now. No duplicate tables were created this time.

Only took me about 4 hours of experimenting to get it to work. At least now I know a little bit about SQL Server, not a lot, but more than the zero I started with.
