    Posted: 31 July 2008 at 9:21pm
Note: I did search the forums but couldn't find the answer....

Is it possible to reorder the Author_ID column? I imported 706 records and now the numbering is off.

Also, I am trying to figure out a way to link the tbl.Author table with a members table that contains all my members information. I have an existing table of all my members that I have imported into the webwiz db and I can't figure out how to link the two. I've setup a column in the member table called User_name to correspond with the tblAuthor column.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You cant re-order the Author_ID column as that is the users ID.

I think you might of made a slight mistake - if you wish to continue using your existing members table then you should of used the Member API which integrates your site into the forum.

The Member Import is to import your old site and move it TO the forum.

If you have not started to use your forum yet then I would advise you to start again from scratch.

sorry, what is it you are trying to do?

As I said, the Import feature is to Import your exisiting users into webwizforum - and then to discard your old table.

The API is to be used with your existing site, so I believe you would use the forgotten password and registration of your existing site.

As I said, please describe what it is you wish to do

I have a database of over 700 members with lots of data (over 30 columns worth) that the forum db doesn't need. I am trying to figure out a way so that my members can log into the web site and do not have to re-login to the forum. I want to only update one db when the user makes a change to their email address, password, etc. I also need the ability to have visitors access the forums.

I have the web site built and the forum installed, I just haven't written the code to tie the two together.

I thought that if I used the functions_member_API I would still have to update the forum tables whenever there was a change of information.

Sorry thatI  have been so vague..... I'm new to ASP and SQL having spent most of my time using Aestiva HTML/OS for several years....
