I hope this is ''understandable'' written?!

That is the point of a Ladder system. The user will move up the groups when they have enough posts.

If you do not want this to happen then simply change the higher groups to be non-ladder groups. This will mean people will not be automatically promoted and demoted by the system. They will only be promoted/demoted when an admin changes their group, regardless to how many or few posts they have.

Scotty32, I do not completely agree. Yes, that is the point of a ladder system. But what is the point of an admin? If an admin has promoted a user to a higher ladder group without increasing the post number for some reason, the ladder system should understand that an admin has modified that user and so, the system is not allowed to demote him.Wink

Or, there could be a switch in the user profile and/or ladder system settings that can enable the flexibility of making a choice whether this member can be demoted in the future based on the ladder rules?

How does this sound?Smile

The ladder group works on numerics as such, so even though admin may say a user should be this or that group member, the system will just default because its numerically based and not admin ruled

Non ladder groups work perfectly well and this forum member should have no issues whatsoever in creating a Non Ladder Membership status and then taking time just to add any particular user to the new non ladder group
I have and its not a hardship

I see what you mean, but the forum works perfectly fine.

From my understanding, the Original Poster does not want a ladder system at all. Just with forum categories and individal forums them selfs, the Administrator has to set these up at install. If you do not wish to use a Ladder System then you can simply change the groups to a non-ladder group, avoiding any problems.

I see what you mean about not moving down if an admin puts a user there but that is the whole point of a ladder system, to move up and down based on Post count.

In version 10 you will be able to create multiple ladder systems, which should be useful for clan and gaming sites.

The new ladder systems will be based on points rather than post count, so if you want to promote or demote users then you can increase or decrease the number of points that user has.
