Hey Bruce, I havn't heard or read a whole lot about the points system (or maybe im just blind) but can the admin change how much the points are worth?
 
Also my "home made" points system allows me to assign points to posts verse new topics.
So "new topics" a person gets 3 points, but "replies" they get 1 point.
 
Will this be how the new system is? if not it would be very helpful if it did.

Yes you can assigned different points for different actions, like New Topic, Replies, etc.
