Hi.

I use Web Wiz Forums since version 6 and I'm happy with that, it's really a great platform.
Recently I changed my ISP but I'm having issues when I try to post or create a new topic and other operations related to posting messages.

I'm getting the 500 Internal Server Error everytime I try to post a message, which Log Manager (in Plesk) refers to "ASP_0115|Unexpected_error 80". I'd already searched in the forum for this issue but none applies to me.

My ISP call me some minutes ago telling me that none of their services are corrupted since other clients are using that services without any problem. The ISP told me that they have Windows Server 2003 SP2 with all updates and latest DLL's and Components, including MyODBC Driver.

They ask me to ask you if there is something that need to be enabled in Plesk 8.2.

On my two old servers the forum runs smooth, this is certainly a server issue rather than a forum or database problem since I'd already tried with a blank database.

Please help...thanks...

First you should turn off friendly HTTP error messages in IE so you get what the actual error is, which will help workout what is wrong.

If you are using version 6 I imagine you are using Access (you didn't say), in which case you should check that you have read, write, a modify permission set by your web host on the Access database.

If the database is Access 97 then look at upgrading it to a newer version of Access, as Access 97 doesn't work well with Windows 2003 server.

You should also look at upgrading, although you maybe happy with version 6 it would not be secure from hackers. Also newer versions as well as having new features also have much improved performance.

If your using IE (Internet Explorer) then you will need to turn off friendly HTTP errors off.

go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced.

This will then give you the exact ASP error that you can then post into here to help us work out whats wrong.

Sorry I forgot to refer that. I said I'm using Web Wiz Forums since version 6 but actually I'm using the latest version (v9.07) with MySQL.

I'd already tried to switch off friendly error in IE but I'm getting the same and generic error:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

I think it's important to say that after the error, the post was made successfully.
Thanks for your quick support

If an error occurs while making a post but the post is still saved to the db it is usually 99% of the time an issue with email settings.

Check in the admin section that the email settings are correct. Also check with your hosting company any relay restrictions they have on sending to non-local email address.

Hi,
I'd already contact my ISP quoting your last message to request them to check e-mail settings. I'm waiting for a reply.

Anyway, in the admin section of the forum platform I'm sure I'm using the right options and I can receive e-mail's sent trough forum itself. I'm using CDOSYS, the right SMTP server, an existent mail account and correct password...
