Hi folks,

I'm wondering if someone can help me. I have just completed an upgrade from v8 to v9 of a WebWizForum installation and found a problem with the output of certain characters. Particularly punctuation marks do not appear to render correctly, example here

Has anyone experienced this? Is there a simple fix? Am I missing something obvious?

Cheers

Ragnar

This is due to version 9 using UTF-8 character encoding as it supports more languages.

What you will need to do is edit the file includes/setup_optionc_inc.asp and change the page encoding to Windows ISO.

Hi -boRg-,

I've just tried the many different European ISO's and none of these appear to work correctly. they replace the characters but with nonsense - eg the correct display of the word Cliché becomes Clich.

Is there a way to use MS SQL to convert the existing posts to the more effective UTF-8 format?

Cheers for any help in advance,

R

The one version 8 used was:-

iso-8859-1

However any posts created under UTF-8 will have a different encoding, but changing it to the page encoding above will correctly show all your older posts correctly that were posted under version 8.

Ragnar, iso-8859-1 works fine for the danish character set. This should work fine with the swedish ones as well.
