    Posted: 03 November 2007 at 8:08am
Greetings,

is it possible to modify the folder path where images from postings can be uploaded by the user? I am using the MS Access version of WebWiz forum.

Kind regards
Rainer

In the admin area under the File upload page, it should let you change the folder.

Make sure the folder you point to exists before changing it

Sorry, I dont use File upload so i assumed it was the same as V8.

For the file upload look in the file "includes/setup_options_inc.asp".

This is not with the browser, open it with your text editor, and change the line:

strUploadFilePath = "uploads" 'This is the upload folder

The reason why it is not an option in the admin area is that with version 9, many users who changed the default location of the upload folder found that the forum would crash or uploads would not work correctly.

Therefore it is highly recommended that you do NOT change the upload folder location.

Thanks for the answers.., upload is now working, however, i noticed that when uploading an image with a comma (,) and space in the file name if get the error message:

####

Server.MapPath() error 'ASP 0173 : 80004005'

Invalid Path Character

/forum/functions/functions_upload.asp, line 188

An invalid character was specified in the Path parameter for the MapPath method.

####

But the image is uploaded into the /forum/uploads folder.

But or feature?

Spaces are OK as they are replaced with an _ when uploaded, but it looks like commas (,) can course the server to throw an error.

This will be fixed for the next release to strip commas from uploaded files.
