Hi Folks, maybe someone can help me on this issue.

Yesterday we moved our board to a new host (webhost4live)
We also moved the domain there, so its still reachable via the same link as before.

Everything looked fine on the first peek, but when someone wanted to post it gives this error msg:

Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occurred while writing to the database.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_save_new_topic_data
File Name:- new_post.asp

Error details:-
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'Topic_ID', table 'refill.dbo.tblTopic'; column does not allow nulls. INSERT fails.

Any help ?

Regards
Mike

The error means that in moving your SQL Server database across you have not also copied across the default values.

This is common with SQL Server 2005, and I would advise a better course of action would be to request a backup of the old database from your previous web host to give to your new web host.

Many web hosts, like hosting from ourselves, offer online tools to create backups, and restore SQL databases from backup files.
