Several months ago, when another fellow was running the AMCForum on a different host and using yabb software, we had a couple of nasty crashes. One lasted several days while he moved the forum to a different host, another was the final straw. In those cases, people wonder - what's up? Well, if the forum is down, you can't use the mass email function or even ANY email function to send a message "it's broke, we're working on it and it will be up in 24 hours" etc.
It's like the help desk rule - submit trouble tickets via email. Ok, how do you let them know EMAIL IS DOWN?
What we are wondering, is there a way for me, the admin, to get a list of email address from the forum so IF there are issues, we can send all, or even a few, of them an email letting them know we are aware of the issue, or perhaps letting them know if we move hosts and it will be unavailable for new posts for 60 minutes, whatever......... I don't see such a function built-in, but is there a way using a script of some sort? Maybe save email addresses to a CSV or text file?
