Topic: would like to integrate a new button Posted: 04 July 2007 at 2:04pm |
We'd like to add some text and a new button at the top of the forum page, especially the "default", not so much the others, but when someone is viewing/navigating or that sort of thing.
Basically, we'd like to add a small "donate" button, say, next to or near the RSS feed button. SMALL text, such as "if you'd like to support this resource, you may donate here: [button]" (the button is a paypal form)
I'm not sure where to add it, and how to keep it small and lined up nicely.
(unless someone has a better idea of how/where to place it so it looks nice. Folks really love the look of our forum)
Thanks - this is the page:

You can open default.asp and scroll down to about line 382. Right below line 382, you can add your code for the button with text and just align it right so that it will be right below the login text boxes and above the rss feed image. That will also only affect the default.asp page and not other pages.

Thanks, but looks like our line numbers are off a bit - perhaps because I added some text (see http://theamcforum.com/forum/default.asp)
That would end up in the middle of some ASP script/code.
I'd like the same small text, and lined up on the right, like the RSS button is.
I've tried several different things, to no avail. It doesn't line up right at all.
I have even made a default-test.asp so I'd not screw up the good page while I played!
Thanks.

yeah, if you've made modifications already to your code, then giving you a number placement is useless. I'm going to PM you my email address. If you'd like, you can send me your code and I can let you know exactly where to place it.

i think he didn't want it around the current navigation though, in which case it would not be on the navigation buttons file

Correct. And thank you. I got it posted. I appreciate the help. My next quest will be to remove all the space between the navigation and the forums section. Well, not all of it, but arrange things a bit differently. would be nice to have the thank you text, the bookmark button and either the rss button or the donations button all on a line. Probably hard to know without looking what I mean. Just seems to push the forums table down and leave a lot of space. At least I got the buttons and text in place we needed.
