Hello,

Our company wants me to transfer their existing customers from everest database to the webwiz forum database so they dont have to register again. I noticed that webwiz uses a salt for the password so I am thinking it's not possible.

Is this possible and if so how?

Thanks,
Jim

Unless they use the same encryption I don't think it'll be possible. I would just transfer the users/email addresses and send them an email with a link to the change password page so they generate a new one for themselves. Least hassle.

Version 9 will have a generic database import tool that will allow you to import members from other databases. As long as the passwords are not encrypted in the source database it should work fine, if passwords are encrypted you would need to get your users to reset their passwords using the Forgotten Password tool.

Version 9 should be released in beta within the next few weeks.

Is there a page on this site that lists the new features for version 9? If not that's okay, I was just curious.

Thanks for the help,
Jim
