I can't even send a confirmation to a hotmail account. It may be the CDONTs stuff and spam filters.
any one else have any ideas?

Hotmail, Yahoo, and AOL email accounts have a number of problems,
including bouncing back emails that are sent by sites as they look at
them as spam, security measures make links not work correctly, etc. etc.
One way around this is to setup your forum as this board does to not allow the use of hotmail, yahoo, or AOL email addresses.

They are not able to login to the forum from that window because
hotmail opens all links inside frames. Get them to copy + paste the URL
to thier address bar and they should be able to login.

Whereabouts do you make this change? I can see problems with people using many accounts from hotmail. I would like to prevent this.

In the admin section there is a place for email banning.
I don't allow people from yahoo, aol, hotmail, etc sign up on this
board and out of 7,000 members I have had only two or three people
complain about this that they only have one of these email addresses,
but they always seem to find an email address from somewhere in the end.
