Is there any way to configure WWF to require Admin approval before a user's account is activated ?

(I still would like the user to be able to sign-up themselves.....but not be active till the admin signs off on their account.)

you could send the activation email to the admin and send it further on to the user if approved (just to confirm the registered email)

You can make an extra group for example NewMember. Set the rights for this group to the same rights as a guest, or a little bit more.
You can set that new members belongs to this group when they sign in. Then you can let a admin review the registration, and move the NewMember to the Newbies group.
The only thing that i not understand is, on what base do a admin determes the member is going to be a "full" member. Normally you do this on behaviour, but there is nothing to see in behaviour as they have no write or post permissions??

The system is going to be used for an Elks lodge I'm a member of.  We need to verify they are a member of the lodge before we would allow them access to WWF and the members only area.
