    Posted: 06 March 2007 at 8:16pm
Hello,

I am setting up my Web Wiz Forum and about to make it public on my site...www.elmsoftware.com.

Issue
When attempting to delete a topic, I receive the following:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '8000405'.

The cursor does not include the table being modified or the table is not updatable throught the cursor.

delete_post.asp, line 167

Please help with any advice.
Is this something that my webhost can fix?

Right now, I make the unwanted topics 'Hidden'.
I would like to Delete Topics though.

Web Host:  WebHost4Life.com
Database:  SQLServer 2005

Looks like a corrupted file or the database has not been setup correctly.

First try reuploading the original files again and see if that solves the issue. If not try setting up the forum again from the beginning by deleting the database and re-creating it on the SQL Server.

Hi Bruce,

Thank you for responding.

All the files look like a perfect match.
I feel concerned about deleting and starting over.

Every other part of the Forum is working perfectly.

Questions
1. Is it possibly something I can contact my webhost about?  A permissions issue with the SQL Server?

2) When the SQL Server install occurred, the prefix of 'DBO' was there, and I did not change this...could this be it?  Should I have changed this?

3) Can I use SQL Server Management Studio to look at the database and possibly delete records?  I am sure that this is not recommended...but is it possible?

Please write when you get a free opportunity.
