Apart from the fact that I'm pretty happy with the forum as it is. Its stable and runs without any issues.
I am running version 7.96 and preparing to upgrade to the newer version.
 
Have downloaded the upgrade tool and the version 8 ready to do the job.
 
However..
step 1 and 2 have already got me stumped !
Both step are - "backup your database.."
 
I have a MS SQL database. I have the DB name my logon and password available. but havent a clue how to take a backup prior to running the scripts to do the upgrade.
 
Sorry if I'm being a bit thick here !Embarrassed
 
Any advice would be welcome.

How you backup an SQL Server database depends on what type of access you have to the server. You should contact your web hosting company and ask them the best method with their system.

Did the upgrade yesterday.
All went swimingly Big%20smile
 
Was very easy to do, once I had figured out how to take a backup of my MSSQL DB - Thankyou.
 
Got a couple of issues to sort out
- I have a set of custom smilies - but a reply to my other post looks like it has the answer to that one.
 
I was using and image as the background in V7 but that doesnt seem to work now maybe Im missing something. So looking at how to implement a skin next.
