I've been getting:

Quote Server Error in Forum Application
An error has occured while connecting to the database.
Please contact the forum administrator.

Support Error Code:- err_SQLServer_db_connection
File Name:- common.asp

Error details:-
Provider
Unspecified error


whilst trying to access this forum for the last 10 mins.

this is because either the timeout on the connection live state is being dropped.
 
or maybe the username and passwords have changed.
 
try re uploading the database connection file in the database folder aswell.
 
also note this is not the support forum, and thus support questions can be missed if not placed in the right forum.
 
these errors can be caused sometimes if a server back up is taking place and other features.

The problem was coursed by some security changes that needed to be made to the SQL Sever used for this forum this morning to improve security due to a number of brute force hacking attempts on the SQL Server recently.

Thanks for the update Bruce. Are the changes something any other forum admins with MS SQL should apply to their servers? I ask as it is my ultimate intention to use MS SQL as the backend for my forum.
