default.asp error

Strangely, my forum stopped working.  When accessing the site, IE6 reports:

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Operation must use an updateable query.   /active_users.inc, line 172

I've looked at the query string in active_users.inc and nothing jumps out as a cause. The file is not corrupt as I can open it, and save it. 

Any clue as to how I can find the problem?  Thanks. /*tom*/
