Topic: CAPTCHA validation not working... Posted: 25 June 2006 at 6:28pm |

My WWF won't let me log in...it says
Error
The Security Code entered did not match that displayed. A new Security Code has been generated.
More than 3 failed login attempts have been made on this account. Please enter your details again, including security code.
Now the problem is, it won't let me log in at all, to the forums themselves or to the admin area. I'm using the SQL version...would it help, possibly, to re-upload the forums? I've got a fairly active little board, and not being able to administrate it - let alone post to it - is becoming a real problem.

Is it just logging in with the admin account you are having issues with or is it all accounts?
If it is just the admin account, make sure that the username and password are correct. Also, try using the Forgotten Password feature to be emailed a new password.

Sorry, I should have thought more carefully first; after all, if it was the tool that was broken, *everybody* would be unable to log in.
I had considered this possibility before I posted and had already changed the password with no luck. On a whim, however, when I read your post, I went and tried it again...with IE instead of Mozilla. To ensure that I am not losing what little remains of my mind, I tried one more time - unsuccessfullly - with Moz, and then with IE. Failed with Moz, but worked in IE.
But now that I've got in with IE and changed the password back from the random sctring of characters that was generated on the reset, it's working fine in both browsers.
Sorry to bother you man, this was obviously some variant of an ID-10-T error at the keyboard.

How ever strange, must be Mozilla having a funny 5 minutes, although I use Firefox as my default browser and never have any such problems.

*nods* The longer I work as a programmer/developer, the more convinced I am that some days, the machine just has a mind of its own and will do what it wants. Everything seems to be fine now. Thanks again for a great set of products...I hope one day to make enough money doing this that I can just buy the whole dev package

You may be able to, I saw a post a few days ago were someone was charged £375 + tax ($650 USD) by a web design company just to setup Web Wiz Forums on their web site and all they did for integration was change the background colour!!
