I downloaded 8.0 for MS SQL database to my hard drive then uploaded the extracted files to my host, Infoquest, after creating an SQL database. I used WS-FTP-Pro set to auto to upload the entire Forum directory to my root web. Then I added the required information in the database file using WordPad then uploaded the new file to the database subfolder.

When I go to create tables in the database, I get the same error message regardless of what combination I use for user name and it will not let me change the third line about create tables (the default is DBO).

I sent off the section of the database file where I added data and the error message to Infoquest and they said I got it right. Was I supposed to upload images as binary files and other files as ASCII. Did using the "auto" setting create a problem?

Anyway, I am stuck at the first start. I looked at the posts here and did not find an answer so would appreciate some help.

Without telling us what the error is, it's almost impossiable to tell what the problem is.

Sorry, I'm just too new to Web Wiz.

Here is what I get everytime:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Error Connecting to database on SQL Server

Check the following is set up and correct:-

SQL Server User Name

SQL Server Password

Name of the SQL Server

Database name set up by you on the server

Empty Database set up by you on the SQL Server

Check also that you have entered the correct details in the file

'database_connection.asp' found in the 'database' directory

-------------------------------------------------------------

In the meantime, I got email from Infoquest that I needed to make a change on my pc.

So I've followed through their directions and can't get an early window where you set tcp/ip as the network library and names the server, etc. On this same window it gives me the option to click "Connect to SQL Server to obtain default settings for the additional configuration options." If I click this it asks for Login id and password: When I give the correctlogin id and password, I can not get past this page. If I do not click this option and simply perform the other tasks on this window and take the defaults through to the end then on the final page I can not connect to my server.

I'm getting a bit confused here as you seem to be trying to log into your SQL Server with some software or device that has nothing to do with Web Wiz Forums software.

The Web Wiz Forums software error you have means that the SQL Server connection details you have given are correct.

Although, it seems you are saying that you are having issues connecting to the server no matter how you try.

Connect your web hosts as this seems to be an issue with you being able to connect to the SQL Server.
