You can either use group permissions to create a group that has moderator permissions on a forum then place the member you want to be a moderator in that group, or you can create permissions on a forum for members. Both are done from the admin area.

hi i have question about this for instance

i created one forum  and opened it as for special groups access , which can special groups can see this forum not others in ladder system (members , new members etc) but my moderators couldnt see that forum too

only when if i create  special permissions to my moderator from members permissions section in admin panel and set it to access this forum to that member (whic is my moderater) ; moderator can see it after that

is it normal ?  i mean do i have to make special permissions to each special groups members ;
why its not enough choosing
"special groups" in forums configurations to access to that forum

I have encounter similar problems to what martionline mentions.  When I set special permissions for a user on a specific forum, I have to set all the permissions instead of just designating the persion a moderator in order for them to access and use that forum.  In addition, setting the moderator switch does not give them all the edit/delete features therein that I see everywhere as an administrator.  Very puzzled.  Any suggestions? I would think that setting the moderator switch for a particular member on a particular forum would give that person full features inside that forum.

the permssions system is being re written for V8 as it can be better and easier to understand.

you can set user permssions by selecting set user permssions (or something simular).

then say what forums the permssions are on. you have to have the correct perssions within the actual forums also.

if you set a forums permssions to private group, you have to set the permssions for all groups i think. for that perticular feature

Anyone have any ideas how to simply remove permissions assigned to a user instead of having to overwrite them?  That way they just default back to the permissions of their default group.  Seems this simple feature should have been included a long time ago.
