I just downloaded the version 8 forum to try it out.

I always used a DSN for my database location, but can't find it anymore in version 8. (I probably am looking the wrong way Wink).

Is this true or am I really blind?

Thanx.

A DSN connection is both slow and bad for performance as well as coursing other issues with SQL data not being returned correctly.

If you really want the code can be modified to use a DSN, but I would recommend that you use the DSN-less method.

Problem is I am stuck with an Access database offered with a DSN method by my internet provider.

You're web host must be stuck in the dark ages, I've not heard of this for many years.

You should still beable to connect to Accesses databases using DSN-less connection, just put in the path to the database.

If you can't, then I would suggest changing web host.

Access is a desktop database and is not up to the task of being used as a forum backend, so have a look for a host with SQL Server or MySQL support. Many hosts now offer this for under $3 a month.
