Hello all,
 
I'm running a Windows 2000 Server dedicated server. I developed all the web pages of my web site in classic ASP.
 
Forum: two years ago I was using Snitz but I didn't appreciate it so much... So I moved (also my database) to phpbb + MySQL but since over 7 months from installation, its performances don't satisfy me.
I installed fastcgi and a caching system but running PHP pages on a Windows server is causing me too many headaches.
 
I would like to evaluate moving to Web Wiz Forums but I have some question for you:
1. is it possible to use Web Wiz Forums with MySQL database? I cannot use Microsoft SQL Server and Access db aren't well for high volume web sites.
2. security: http://secunia.com/product/2387/  All security problems seem to be patched but the following http://secunia.com/advisories/11525/ is marked as not patched yet. Is it true or Web Wiz Forums 7.9 solve also this vulnerability?
3. is there available a converter from phpbb to Web Wiz? Or I have to develop a script that makes all the conversion process?
4. Has a Web Wiz 7.9 user the ability to attach files?

hi,

1. this is not possable as a official release in V7. but has been done and is being looked into in the future

2.http://secunia.com/advisories/11525/ was patched in V7.8 i believe

3. i dont believe there is a convertion tool for PHPBB to Web wiz forums

4. as a user you can uplaod files to the server if gioven permssions .

but not actual attachments

It is not possibile to modify the provider in 'SQL_server_connection.asp' file in order to connect to MySQL server, isn't it?

someone has modified Web wiz forums to work under MySQL but its not just a case of changing the connecton string its also changing parts of the code.

there is more details on a thread within the suggestions forum.

explaining that they did so.
