I'm trying to salvage topics and members from my board that has no database. Topics are saved as individual text files. I'd like to transfer these to the new board. Can I add them to a database or do I have to create a new topic in the forum and paste the text?

I have names and e-mail addresses I could use to make a member list. Can I make up or ignore the User_code and Salt fields so members only have to enter their password to join my WWF board.

Any ideas on how to move messages and members from a collection of individual files into WWF?

You'd need to post the format of the text files so people would know what fields are either missing or in addition to the fields used by wwf. e.g. I'd assume the post text files contain the post, time stamp, author, and topic but wouldn't have a clue about what other things there might be in them.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.

Thank you for your reply.

This is the content of the message file named 1076638119.txt:

user_name|The text of the message goes here|ISP server DNS number for user|e-mail@braggcreek.ca|1076638119|0|||
The large number is the name of the file. I don't know what the rest of it is.

Member profile content in user_name.cgi file. I only need the first three lines:
