Actually, the forum still runs fine, even though the load time for pages is super slow (3-5 secs).

However what's interesting is that when I download the file to my computer, Access said that it was corrupted and could not open the DB. I also tried running the compact database from the forum admin, but what happens is that either the script times out or it gives me a strange "permission" error. As far as I know, there's nothing wrong with the directory permissions, and a few months ago I was able to perform the back up from the admin.

I was wondering if I should get it fixed (and if so, how), or just wait if the 8.0x converter will handle it alltogether.

The Access Database is about 410 MB, hosted on Brinkster. My forum has about 160k posts.

WOW a 404Mb Access database!!!!

I'm surpirsed it's lasted this long before becoming corrupted!!

Acess is a flat file desktop database system and is fine for very small forums with a handful of users each day, but anymore than this, for an ASP application that puts allot of demand on the database Access simply can not cope and does become easily corrupted.

The version 8 upgrade tool will simply update your prresent database, so if it is already corrupted then it will stay corrupted.

What you need to look at is moving to SQL Server (or mySQL in version 8) that can cope with a forum on this size.

If you stick with Access this problem WILL happen again!!

I've seen sites using Web Wiz Forums that have been thrown off Fasthosts for having Access databases over 10Mb
