Hi!

I was hoping you could help, i am trying to decide which software to go with, and in order to compare features lists, i was hoping someone could answer the following questions:

1. Can we add an unlimited number of forums?
2. Can we set up Private Forums (by permission only, or certain members only)?
3. Can we create polls?
4. Is there an unlimited amount of members allowed?
5. Can moderators edit topics at will?
6. Can moderators perform mass deletes/edits/moves?
7. Do moderators have the ability to split topics (say if members go off-topic)?
8. What is the procedure (i.e. is it easy) to restore or create backups?
9. Can we disallow certain usernames (for example those containing our company name?)
10. Is there a word censoring option?
11. Is there an optional new post verification option?
12. Can we ban users by username/name/IP address/host/email?
13. Can we perform mass-emailing to our members?

Apologies for the amount of questions!
Thanks for your help!

Thanks for your answers... it was really helpful!

couple more questions.... hope that's ok!

1. Can the content of threads be spidered by search engines?
2. Does Web Wiz allow for multiple quotes?
3. Can we set up a calendar (for things like annoucements and for members birthdays)?
4. Is there a flood control option (ie. posters have to wait so many seconds before posting again)?

Thanks for your help!

Threads will be spidered by search engines. They'll follow all links off of the main forum page down through the various levels.

It typically takes 3-6 months for a search engine to do a "deep-crawl". One way to help them completely index your forum is to change the drop-down default for the "Show Topics" dropdown from "from The Last Two Weeks" to "from The Last Year" - at least until your site has been completely indexed.

After that, check your logs to determine how often the SE's return and set the dropdown to something greater than that time interval.

Lead me not into temptation... I know the short cut, follow me.

Is there an optional new post verification option?

can be done by 30 minutes modify. i already mod mine and it work ok, i don't mine to share.

Can the content of threads be spidered by search engines?

Most of search engine now crawl the QueryString, how if you want make sure you can use queryString killer (my MOD) by replace the ?FID blah blah to something like topic-100.html.

You can do alot of thing if you check out the forum modifications.
