Adding emoticons problem.

Can anyone help please ?
 
I have changed the way my Emoticons work by following this thread.
 
I have tried to add an Emoticon by placing a Gif into the Smilies folder.
 
The Emoticon is shown in the Smilies pane when you post, looks ok in WYSIWYG, looks ok in PREVIEW POST but when the topic is posted it comes up as a red cross.
 
Any ideas ?

right click the image (x) and see what path is specified.

that may show something. it maybe the path is alterted, is weird
