Topic: Watch forum not sending emails ... Posted: 12 October 2005 at 11:30am |
|
My company currently has WWF version 7.01 installed and users attempting to utilize the "watch this forum for new posts" option are not receiving emails.
I tested further and email notifications of PM messages are sending out appropriate emails, but the "watch" functionality is not generating any emails.
Any suggestions? Is it a situation where I need to upgrade the forum software on our website?
I would really appreciate assistance, thanks!

Email notification has to be turned on in the admin section and the individual user has to have it turned on in their profile.
Both conditions have to be true in order to get watch post notifications.
For PM notifications, I think just the user profile needs to have it turned on.

I reverified the settings and have all of the following enabled in the admin setup:
Email Notify Send Post with E-mail Notificaton Built in Email Client
I do not have Email Activation of Membership enabled.
Using CDONTS and as I mentioned, the PM emails are getting through fine, so the email configuration is setup properly.
Additionally, I verified my email preferences in my personal profile and have the following enabled: Notify me of replies to posts Notify me by email when I receive a Private Message
I do not have Show my Email Address enabled.
I honestly can't understand why the watch email functionality appears to not be working as everything appears to be enabled properly. Any assistance in troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Matt

try re uploading the forum files maybe the file that sends the watch
Posts/records s slightly corrupt, do you get any sort of post
notification , ie
when you post if you click 'Email Notify me of Replies '
do you get that email?

I tested by replying to one of my own posts and did not receive the email. Not sure if it is supposed to send me an email when I reply to myself, but I didn't get anything.
Since it's version 7.01, I'm wondering if upgrading would be the best thing and see if that rectifies the situation. Additionally, I would like to migrate the forum DB to SQL, but want to take one step at a time.
If anyone has any ideas on how to get the "watch emails" to be sent, I am all ears.
Thanks, Matt

You don't get notifications of things you reply to - only that other
reply to. If you post a url, we can test it to see if we get replies.
