If RTE is brought up with a completely empty textarea under Firefox 17, the mouse cursor is not displayed when you click on the textarea.

I can reproduce this on your demo site by going into source view, clearing out all the html (including the <br>), switching back to rte view, clicking on the Demo title, and then re-clicking on the text area.

The focus is back on the textarea and as soon as you type a character, the cursor reappears.

This is a bug in some versions of Firefox that the cursor does not display when the Mozilla Midas Rich Text Editing API is enabled until you start typing or if there is already content within the editor.

The latest version of the Web Wiz Rich Text Editor fixes the issue inserting a hidden character in to the Rich Text Editor so that the cursor displays.

The steps you describe of switching to HTML view and removing all content then switching back to Rich Text Editing view would strip all content from the editor causing the cursor not to appear.

Most people would not carry out these steps in real world use and until the issue is fixed in Firefox itself there is not much that can be done to prevent this apart from what is already put in place.
