Brexit is almost here and while the politicians cannot make their minds up if the UK will be leaving, staying, no-dealing or dealing with the EU, one thing is for sure, unless the UK ends up staying UK owners of .EU domains will lose their .EU domains in as little as 3 months!
The European Commission who set the rules on who can register .EU domains have told the EURid registry that runs the .EU namespace that they must revoke .EU domains that have a UK registrant address.
This date could be as soon as the end of May 2019 if the UK leave the EU with no-deal or December 2020 if the UK leaves with a deal.
The EURid registry has issued the following notice which has further information on how Brexit will affect .EU domains:
