Personally I think the Radeons are great cards and again it always depends on what you do. If you do mainly video editing I found the nvidia chip to perform a little better actually but in tests I read the ATI is better for most games...

Are your options based on pricing? I don't know what's available in the UK but why don't you get a DDR AGP??
Also one thing when buying Graphic Boards. It is one of the only things where I buy a replacement plan ($14/2years) as after a year or two the card is old and they guarantee to replace it with an equal one or better. Most Cards should not be available anymore after a year or two and somehow mine always breaks then.

Price wise the DDR is 2x more expensive...

£60 for sd, £120 for ddr

I know they are way more thus you should eventually consider waiting till you have the money, there will be a performance difference.
