My site has been clsed down due to the reason below
------------
I regret to inform you that we have suspended the above domain with immediate effect. At present, its operation is in breach of our terms and conditions. This domain was has so many open database connections that it was causing the server to crash and it was affecting hundreds of customers. Unfortunately, it is not an option to move this domain to the scripting servers since this website would have the same impact on this. Please can you confirm that you will re-design your site so that it closes any database connection once they have finished the process, we will be able to re-enable your domain.
----------

Does anyone know how and if I can rectify this? please help.

There are no open database connections in Web Wiz Forums.

All database connetions are closed before the end of each file and this has been double checked many times.

I even set a challege not long ago that if anyone found a database connection or recordset that is not closed they could have a free license key. None were found.

Web Wiz Forums also uses a number of performance enhnacments like application variables etc. to cut down on the number of database queries, recordsets, etc.

If you have database connections left open on your site then it won't be from Web Wiz Forums.

However, if your forum is very large and under heavy use, you should make sure you are running the SQL Server version.

Access is a flat file desktop database system and so on larger forums courses performance issues on the server, which is what your host maybe suffering from. I always recommend not to Access as a forum backend unless you only have a small forum with a handful of users.

Reading your post again, I might have more of an idea of what is happening.

Is your site running the Access version on Windows 2003 and crashing the sever when under heavy load?

If so Windows 2003 has a bug that is to do with the MDAC drivers that courses the application pool to come un-responsive when the JET access driver comes under heavy load.

To fix this server issue get your web host to see the following Microsoft KB:-

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=838306

We had a big issue with this on our own servers with them crashing under heavy load from Accessed based forum software till we came across this article, after applying the hotfix it immediately cleared up all the issues we had with the servers.

Im not sure what the server is, we are using http://www.streamline.net/wh.php as a hosting company.

We are using Access though, the site is just the forum so there is nothing else to have an open database. This has happened as we just had a very busy period with at least 9 users at any time on the site.

From your explanation second post it what the problem is.

I had exactly the same issue on a windows 2003 server and a site only running the Access version of Web Wiz Forums, that when the forum came under heavy load the application pool would become unresposive, meaning all sites that use that app pool on the server would stop working.

It took me weeks to find  the problem as I knew the code within Web Wiz Forums is very tight so could not possibly be the issue. I then came across the KB I mentioned in my post and once installed on the web server cleared up all the issues.

Contact your hosting company and point them in the direction of the following kb:-

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=838306

I'm sure that once they install this hotfix on the server it should clear up the issue.

If not switch to Web Wiz Guides own hosting at www.webwiz.net, as we already have this Hotfix installed on the servers so your forum should run without issue.

I have sent that to them and this is their reply...

Thanks for your query.

To be honest, we do not think it is the server but the script that you are using. Regardless of what patches you installed and even if you are on a pool of your own, if you do not clean up your connections and free up memory this will bring any server to a breakdown point.
We have hundreds of customers on this server, connecting to access and sql databases without any problems. We will pass the comments to someone else and get back to you. However, we still expect you to review your scripts and we will only restore his domain once this has been done.

Kind Regards,

Streamline.Net - The home of good value web hosting
---------------------------

At the moment we dont even have access to the ftp so we cant even take a copy of all the files let alone check the scripts. Its becomeing very distressing as they are refusing to even consider that we arent "malicious users" we have nothing other than teh forum so with your assurance it isnt that I cant see what we can do.
I woudl much prefer to swap over to your servers, but at the moment I cant even get to one file! Let alone know how to even start swapping the domain over

I certainly assure you that all database connections are closed and I am 100% certain of that and the code is very tight so web wiz forms isn't the issue either.

It maybe worth informing your web hosting company that the only software running on your site is commercially available ASP forum software used by large companies like Sony, Kodak, ITV, etc. and the info I gave before to pass onto them, is from the official software support team who deal with such issues on a daily biases.

If they still don't listen would certainly recommend changing web hosts.

If they don't want you on their servers then they must let you have your site back, ask them to enable FTP access to your site to download it.

To move to another web host is quite simple. Just sign-up to a new web host, upload your old site, then change the DNS server details of your domain to point to the new server.

Changing the DNS servers of your domain is quite simple and most domain name suppliers allow you to make these changes on-line through an admin or control panel for the domain.
