First of all Hi to every one, I'm new here and I suppose I'm gonna be here a while figuring out how to get things running, which leads me to my problems...oHDEAr :another NooB: LOL..........

Ok I have some of the stuff saved, Guestbook, Forums, Tutorials. I have been trying to figure some of it for a few days now and did have the guestbook working temporarily.

So first problem was I had to install IIS and MSSQL on my computer. Did that, but can't find anyway of interacting with it so I can set attributes or whatever I need to do to make it work. ok I thought I would just have to install it, put my Forum files in the wwwroot sub-folder of INETPUB, setup a data base in the same folder, a html connection document and then open a browser and type in the address as a localhost address. I do this and keep getting an ALC error message with a heading of you are not authorized blah blah blah...(I'm sure some of you will have heard this all before)

Anyway any ideas? or pointers in the right direction woud be appreciated.

Basically this will be going up on to my future web hosts in a few weeks time, so they will have it set up to work on there side. What I want to do though is test everything is working and I have a reasonable idea of how to set things up. I want to do this locally on my computer and I thought I would just have to install the server program and away I go , bit more involved than that I know. Anyway I'm gonna have another go at figuring this and I'll check back later..

Thumbs up to a nice bit of software btw

If you only want to test localy, then you can simply install iis on a local 2000 or xp... It is a lot easyer... Upload whit frontpage and setup connection to database...

I should have mentioned I'm using XP. I went through the documentation etc and came across the reference that I would need to install the correct software ie MSSQL, IIS etc.

I did have the guestbook working temporarily. I know the problem lies with configuring the server. As I said I am a total Newbie at this so I have a lot to learn.

If I can get a couple of pointers on setup I think I should be able to figure the rest.

I have come across that IUSR_My_Computer? bit but I don't want to add things without knowing what exactly I'm adding. In other words allthough it is in the tutorials, I go there (In XP) ,I find no IUSR account only ADMIN, Guest, + a couple of other accounts. But I can't find the specific one IUSR? Is it one of these accounts or ...? (  I don't want to just click anything...I hate re-installs;) )

I know the problem is I need to make a connection document, between My Computer and the SQL server or IIS.

I've been at it again all day but to no avail yet..but they know what they say Read the help files! (lol)

Or try try again.......Thanks for the tips ,

I'll check back later, In the meantime, The reason why I got this software is for my new community website, which is featured in my sig.,Tryablink. I also work at Aj's Forums, a lovely place to come to for a freindly chat and computer related support, drop by for avisit from time to time, only too pleased to see 'Guests' drop by from time to time, Thanks for the help:)
