There is an option in the admin menu to setup moderators.

I've looked into that but never could understand the scheme.

First you need to go to the Forum Configuration an switch Display Moderator Groups on Main Page to ON. Then go to Membership Admin, select the Member you want to make a Moderator and and the lower third of the page make him a member of the moderator group (Or custom Group that has moderate forum access for that specific forum)

yeah, i just figure that out by reading the code.
See, I've set the group, the member into the group, group into forum, etc.. But never know of that switch IN THE FORUM CONFIGURATION :-)
