hey, if you want free hosting, host it on your own computer. If you have windows 2000 pro, or windows xp pro you can. you must have the original disk, or if you used warez version the files. But you go to control panel>add remove programs>add remove windows components>internet information services(IIS)> next

you cant do this if you are using dial up, or if you are a complete retard

Win 2k Pro and XP pro only have personal versions of IIS and so only one or two people an conect to your site at a time, if you want your own site you need a broadband connection with a static IP and either Win 2k Server or Windows server 2003.

MS have now renamed Win 2003 .net to Windows server 2003, they say it is to keep it in line with there other OS's.

Win2k Pro has IIS 5.0 and it is not just a personal version. It will fully run a website. I use it all the time and can hold as many connections as my bandwidth will allow. If you like, I can start IIS on my Win2k Pro machine and people can hit it to test.

For getting around a dynamic IP address, you can use a dynamic DNS host like www.dyndns.org and download one of the listed IP update clients. I can recommend one that works great with even using NAT.

If yahoo! was a little above your head, then I imagine running IIS and dynamic DNS will be too. No offense intended, and I'll be glad to help advise you if you need it. Really, your best bet is getting a good paid hosting service or Brinkster.

xeerex, you are wrong. IIS that comes with NT, 2000, XP is limited to 10 connections and depending how you built your app one client can use up all connections. There is no way to change that either. Thus most connections are stateless it might appear more ppls are connecting at the same time.
