The icon only appears when you save the page into favourites as far as I know.  It's done through a tag pointing to a .ico file.  Put the following code in your HTML header:

<LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="https://www.yourdomain.com/name_of_icon.ico">

The best way to work out stuff like this is to open the source of the website and find out for yourself.

wots a .ico(n) file?

umm sorry sounds funny

its an icon, just a standard icon you'd use on your desktop for "My Computer" and "Recycle Bin" etc

theres programs out there, search on google for icon creator or sumfin

am not sure if MS Paint can do it or not, never tried

Search Google or just look at the code for one of those pages.

Include the image, then add the MIME type to your server.

In IE yeah, but if you have a look in Firefox (and probably other web browsers) you will get the icon in the addressbar and some other places.. I didn't even know websites used icons like this before i started using FF and almost all sites I am visiting have one
